Our company needs support with designing a unique, embedded digital experience outside of standard mobile and computer platforms. We already have a vision for how this digital experience will work and where it will go, but need a small design of UX/UI designers to build a functional prototype that is then tested with our users. A specialized or embedded user experience may include things like a smartwatch app, an interface for an airport kiosk, a car’s dashboard, a voice-activated system, or the screen on a smart appliance.

Tasks may include:

• Performing generative research to ensure that we fully understand our user’s problems and are proposing solutions that can directly address them.
• Identifying the primary tasks and goals of the target audience and then making a diagram that maps out the user journey and the steps they must complete.
• Developing a low-fidelity prototype, a set of digitized wireframes in Figma, and finally, a high-fidelity functional prototype.
• Conducting usability testing with real potential users to identify points of friction.

By the end of the project, students should demonstrate:

• A deep understanding the context of our users and the use cases for our product
• Development of a digital prototype that incorporates learnings from the user research and accurately captures our vision
• Verification of the prototype and improvements based on user feedback

Final deliverables should include:

• A digital prototype made in Figma
• A 10-minute presentation of your design process and what you made
• A final report that hands off your work

Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:

• What did we learn from conducting marketing and/or competitive research?
• Who are our customers and what needs are we currently aware of?
• What have you already tried that didn’t work?
• General help with direction, making decisions, and prioritization.
