Learner goals and capabilities

Our Actuarial Science Specialist Program is an accredited program under the Canadian Institute of Actuaries University Accreditation Program. Our programs are also recognized as a Centre of Actuarial Excellence under the Society of Actuaries Centers of Actuarial Excellence (CAE) Program. In 2019, we received the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) University Award for "the innovative and exemplary ways" our program is preparing students for their career.

Students in our Actuarial Science program come with a variety of skills sets and experiences. As part of their degree requirements, students in our Actuarial Science Specialist program are required to complete 420 (full time, continuous) hours - this usually translates into a standard 4 month opportunity. Students may be available for longer, depending on your project and organizational requirements. Students have spent the past year adapting to online development, and are comfortable taking on new challenges in a remote landscape.
