Does your organization manage natural areas? Are you experiencing challenges with visitor numbers and/or visitor behaviour at these sites? Our students can research potential solutions to help safeguard these important places and manage visitation so that the areas can be enjoyed without being destroyed.

Expected outcomes and deliverables
  • Case studies of successful (or unsuccessful) management strategies from other sites will be summarized.
  • Students will evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each potential management action and identify recommended next steps.
  • Students will devise a monitoring strategy to ascertain whether the recommended management action has been successful to address the identified problems.

Requirements

Students will research a range of management options to mitigate or address the impacts of recreational visitors to natural areas.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

A representative of the company will be available to answer questions from students in a timely manner for the duration of the project.

A representative of the company will be available for a pre-selection discussion with the administrator of the course to review the project scope.
