Project Examples
Based on the information and goals you provide, the group will develop solutions and recommendations to solve your analytical challenge.
Past Project Examples:
- Optimizing fire code inspection sites to maximize loss prevention
- Modelling electricity pricing
- Forecasting municipal growth
- Analyzing feasibility of using 3rd-party contractors for disabled adult transit system
- Forecasting equipment repair orders
- Identifying optimal warehouse locations in a supply chain
- Studying factors affecting women running in municipal elections around the province
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
Phone call with instructors to define scope of the project and determine suitability
Create a 1-page document describing the project for students to refer to
Present short project summary to the class on January 11
Attend 2 student proposals on January 25, select your preferred team, sign a contract
Attend mid-term presentation on March 8, or arrange for students to present to you directly around this date
Attend final presentation on April 11, or arrange for students to present to you directly around this date
Evaluate the team's performance
Pay students for satisfactory completion of work (students are asked to bid between $5000 and $7000). Non-profits are exempted.
Ensure the students have access to information and people necessary for them to be successful in their projects.
Provide a dedicated contact who will be available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address students' questions or provide additional information.
