Expected outcomes and deliverables

Final deliverables include:

  • A 10-minute final presentation.
  • An executive summary report, including:

Analysis

  • Analysis of the problem, its impact on the business, stakeholders, and root causes
  • Analysis of external or benchmark data

Proposal

  • Proposed solutions or recommendations, including benefits and risks
  • Rough estimate of costs, including time and intangibles

Implementation

  • Change management strategy addressing all stakeholders
  • Proposed timeline for implementation
  • KPI’s
  • Constraints and risks that must be considered while implementing

Project Examples

Beginning this January, five groups of MBA students will work over 1,500 collective hours helping your organization effectively manage an upcoming change.

Serving as external consultants, groups will analyze the impact of a change on your business and devise a change management strategy. The MBA student-consultants' perspective and expertise will allow you to consider new approaches to the change and unexpected areas of impact.

Based on their analysis, they will deliver a strategy that manages risks, takes advantage of opportunities, and executes change effectively.

Note: This is not a marketing project.

Change initiative examples include, but are not limited to:

Organizational Behaviour:

  • Developing synergy between departments within an organization
  • Enhancing collaboration and synergy through creating learning communities both inside or outside an organization
  • Restructuring

Management Strategy:

  • Leadership challenges
  • Re-imagining your mission, vision, and purpose
  • Merger or acquisition
  • Developing a partnership with another organization

Processes:

  • Implementing a new technology system or integrating a new technology system into a workflow
  • Redesigning an internal system or process
  • Preparing your organization for a change in legislation
Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

Minimum of 2-4 interactions with the students in-person or remotely (approximately 4-6 hours over the duration of the project).

Quick phone call with the instructor to initiate relationship and confirm the project scope is appropriate for the course.

Provide a dedicated contact who is available to answer periodic emails or phone calls over the duration of the project to address student's questions.
