presentations planning engineering design process design reviews prototyping innovationWhy EPICS?
Community organizations need technical expertise. Engineering students need practical, hands-on experience before entering the workforce.
Through EPICS, multidisciplinary teams of recently graduated master engineering students use their technical skills and innovative ideas to design and implement solutions for organizations in our community and around the world.
How does it work?
EPICS teams tackle all stages of the innovation process, from feasibility and planning through design and implementation. The expectation that their designs will be deployed and used provides a compelling learning environment.
Organizations gain valuable help that might otherwise be impossible to afford, furthering your efforts without detracting from the mission.
What is your part?
Twice a semester, community mentors will work with the team through meetings, phone calls and/or email to help advance the project.
Learners
Detailed schematics, iterative prototyping, design review presentations, and detailed design document.
Students in the Professional EPICS program average up to 20 hours per week on the project.

Project Examples
Requirements
EPICS@ASU has approximately 60 projects per semester ranging from water purification systems, solar panel systems, interactive exhibits at the local zoo, museums, and science centers and many more. We have students from freshman to PhD covering all engineering fields, so if it is an engineering project, we have the students and the expertise to solve the problem. All projects are continuous and do not end with the semester, we transition new members on to the team each semester with the average project being delivered in 3 semesters.
