Learner goals and capabilities

George Brown College’s Blockchain Development Program offers employers a unique opportunity to collaborate with postgraduate students specializing in blockchain technology. Our one-year graduate certificate program immerses students in blockchain fundamentals and advanced applications, ensuring they possess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. Learners are proficient in smart contract development, dApp creation, full stack development, blockchain architecture, and security practices, and are keen to apply their expertise to real-world projects.

Employers participating in this experience are expected to engage in regular communication with learners, provide guidance, and supply all necessary information for project success. Additionally, employers should be virtually present at the final presentation and offer constructive, professional feedback through the Riipen platform.

Project Examples

Ideal projects for this experience involve practical, innovative applications of blockchain technology. These projects should challenge students to apply their skills in developing and deploying blockchain solutions. Here are some examples:

  1. Smart Contract Implementation: Develop and deploy smart contracts for automating business processes in sectors like finance, supply chain, or real estate.
  2. Decentralized Application (dApp) Development: Create a dApp to address a specific industry problem or create new business opportunities.
  3. Blockchain System Architecture: Design and build a scalable blockchain system tailored to industry needs, focusing on security and efficiency.
  4. Integration Solutions: Develop middleware solutions for integrating blockchain with existing enterprise systems.
  5. Blockchain Security Enhancements: Research and implement advanced security measures for blockchain applications to protect against emerging threats.

Projects not suited for this experience include those that do not utilize blockchain technology as a core component, those requiring skills outside the blockchain and development scope (such as marketing or non-technical research), and projects with unrealistic timelines or resource constraints that cannot be managed within the program’s structure.

Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:

What is the primary goal of your project, and how do you envision blockchain technology contributing to this goal?

What specific problem or opportunity does your project address?
