Details

Ramadan is around the corner, and Sister Sabria Foundation (SSF) becomes busy during this time of the year. The center and its volunteers are planning to cook hundreds of iftar meals everyday for the community centers across Montreal for 30 straight days. SSF volunteers are dedicated and are at the heart of what SSF does.

The main goal of this internship is to efficiently manage the volunteers schedules for Ramadan. The intern would mainly perform the following tasks:

  • Reach out to, and recruit volunteers for Ramadan (mainly from the centers contact list),
  • Contact volunteers to gather their specific availabilities, etc.,
  • Build a schedule based on all the volunteers availabilities with pre-assigned shifts,
  • Send daily reminders to the volunteers about their shifts and update the schedule to fill in gaps in case of cancelations.
Deliverables

Mainly the schedules will be weekly, and it is expected for the intern to do the following:

  • Prepare weekly volunteers schedules,
  • Prepare weekly reports analyzing volunteer related data,
  • Prepare a final presentation at the end of the internship about the center’s Ramadan procedures and results.
Mentorship
  • Students will be in direct contact with the employer for mentorship and supervision throughout all the stages of the project.
  • The contacts would be in form of online meetings, emails, and meeting up in the center.

The Sister Sabria Foundation (SSF) is a Montreal-based non-profit organization that works to support the most vulnerable members of our community with food and shelter. SSF is founded upon the selfless generosity and dedication of Sister Sabria Hussein, who has been a lifeline to thousands of families for over three decades.

SSF is the embodiment of Sister Sabaria’s life’s work in feeding the hungry and helping those in need. Our story is Sister Sabria's story. Our mission is to provide nourishment, a safe shelter and community support to vulnerable women and their families across Montreal and Quebec. We envision a future where no one in our community goes to bed hungry and afraid. We empower youth searching for a welcoming environment that fosters and amplifies their voice, provide support to houseless individuals and are there for families beginning new lives amidst hardship.
