english language multilingualism language translation collaborative communications educational materials community development scientific literacyClimate change is an existential threat to life on Earth. MEER (Mirrors for Earth’s Energy Rebalancing) is a scientific, humanitarian and educational 501c3 nonprofit organization based in the USA working to implement feasible solutions to global overheating. MEER researches, designs and deploys sky-facing surface sunlight reflectors to provide energy-free cooling while simultaneously offsetting the heat-trapping effects of atmospheric greenhouse gases. Currently, MEER has ultracool roof humanitarian pilot projects under way in West Africa and India which show significant passive cooling of the interiors of people’s homes in areas with dangerously high temperatures. Other applications of MEER surface sunlight reflection technologies are in agricultural settings, and in preserving freshwater in reservoirs by reducing evaporative loss.
MEER seeks translators for the most relevant content of the MEER.org website, and for outreach literature. MEER aims to educate people worldwide about the scientific basis of climate change, and the adaptation and thermal mitigation benefits of MEER’s affordable and durable solar reflector technologies.
MEER would expect translation from English into the translators’ chosen languages of the most important sections of the MEER.org website, and key educational and fundraising literature. The translation of scientific terms must be accurate. MEER has several Spanish-English bilingual team members who would be willing to work with the translators to answer technical and scientific translation questions regarding a Spanish translation, in addition to English-speaking MEER staff being available. In addition, MEER personnel will be available to explain the scientific basis of the local energy-free cooling provided by MEER surface solar reflectors being deployed in the Global South, and how reflecting sunlight offsets the global heating effect of atmospheric greenhouse gases.
MEER would be extremely grateful for translations of the website content and key literature into any language, but especially into those languages with large populations of non-English speakers.

Climate actionAbout the company
Climate change is the greatest challenge facing humanity. MEER (Mirrors for Earth's Energy Rebalancing) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization based in California, USA, founder and directed by Dr. Ye Tao, a former fellow of the Rowland Institute at Harvard University. MEER researches, develops, and deploys sky-facing solar reflectors to provide local energy-free cooling by reflecting sunlight from Earth's surface while simultaneously offsetting global warming from heat-trapping atmospheric greenhouse gases. MEER solar reflectors can be made from recycled materials in an economically feasible and environmentally sensitive way. Currently, MEER has pilot humanitarian research projects taking place in West Africa and India where ultracool mirrored roofs reduce temperatures inside people’s homes by up to 7 degrees C without using electrical power. Other applications of MEER mirror technologies include agricultural and hydrological uses.
