We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization.

The Starfish Canada's Editorial Program is looking for students that are aiming to improve their writing skills and gain knowledge in sustainability and environmentalism. With the LevelUp Internship program, we have the opportunity to expand our variety of journals and looking for more in-depth analytical pieces to diversify our audience reach.

To accomplish this, we expect the student(s) will:

• Write editorial pieces based on documentaries or your own research on sustainability and environmental issues
• Identify media outlets that are most beneficial to share our story
• Depending on depth and reach of the editorial piece, students will have the option to submit either 2 editorial piece (~2000 words each) or 1 in-depth piece (~3500 words). We recommend participants to write about documentaries that are related to environmentalism and sustainability, for example: Seaspiracy, water shortage or agricultural concerns.

A student or team with excellent writing and video skills would be the ideal candidate for this project.

Students will receive supervision on mentorship on:

• How to approach a more in-depth editorial piece
• Guidance on topic selections, writing advice and editing/reviews from the editorial team

Students will also have a chance to connect with our Starfish community (e.g. Top 25, board of directors and Starfish members) to further explore the topic that they are writing on.
