user interface testing learning platforms mobile application development front end design design tool user interface prototyping user experience (ux) web applications apple ios user interface (ui)Our company would like to continue an app creation for a learning platform for students (k-12). The app is intended to add value to customers lives by providing a convenient learning platform as well as to serve as a day care activities planner and data collection for internal purposes and parents to check their child(ren) performance.
We would like a group of students to design a prototype mobile application for our current web-based product.
This will involve:
- Conduct background research of existing web application for the product.
- Identify key areas of our current product and how they might translate to a mobile application.
- Creation of a screen-by-screen UX / UI prototype of a native mobile application which can be used on both iOS and Android.
- Develop a backend of the app.
- Polish the (already created) front end.
- Connect back end and frontend of the app.
By the end of the project, students should complete the following list of activities:
- Familiarize themselves with our existing product.
- Familiarize themselves with a design tool of their choosing and understand how it work.
- Design and build inside of the design tool all the needed screens for a mobile application product.
- Present the final design screens to us with the context of all their choices they made, problems they encountered, and next steps they recommend.
Bonus steps would include:
- Conducting UX / UI testing with real potential users potentially involving paper prototypes or other software tools to support this.
Final deliverables should include:
- A app prototype (MVP) with at least 4-6 functioning features.
- A presentation as stated above of the final designs
Students will connect directly with us for mentorship throughout the project. We will be able to provide answers to questions such as:
- Current product understanding
- Industry standard design tools and applications
- Any sort of branding or styling advice
- Input on choices, problems or anything else the students might encounter
- An explanation on how the SCRUM framework works and how to work on with it.
