Wonderful experience, great people

For my project I wrote two reports for Pauline. Pauline and I met virtually several times over the course of the project. We also stayed in touch through email and text. She helped give good feedback and clarified any questions I had. She was very quick to respond and helpful. I even got to join one of her work meetings to see how her business worked, which was interesting. I learned that regular and immediate communication is VERY important to ensure no misunderstandings. Don't be afraid to ask Pauline questions or tell her right away if you are struggling with the project, because she will always do her best to answer your question or help you with your problem.

Students should not be put into a position where by there actions could have a direct effect on citizens of an area who have voted persons into a position of authority, who then goes to consult unqualified persons to effect changes without the voters being made aware of such activities. Many students could find the responsibility overwhelming in a learning environment which could negatively effect their grades.

This project with the County of Wetaskiwin is such a valuable experience in learning all aspects of doing policy revisions, development and rating them. This experience is integral to HR's course concepts, including Employee Relations, especially in learning about HR policies. It also helps students, including myself, enhance our critical or practical thinking and analysis when it comes to policy development and assessing each of them while gaining knowledge and skills from this project.

This was a great learning opportunity. Riipen was a great way to ask questions if students felt shy or forget to during class. Rod, Pauline, and Mike were all great. I hope to work with the County again in other HR classes.
