The County, 40 miles southwest of Edmonton, is made up of the rural districts bounded by the County of Leduc and Brazeau County to the north, the County of Camrose to the east, the Ponoka County to the south and Clearwater County to the west and includes the hamlets of Alder Flats, Buck Lake, Winfield, the Village at Pigeon Lake, Westerose, Falun, Mulhurst and Gwynne.
The County is located 20 minutes south of the Edmonton International Airport on Hwy 2. There are approximately 80 fulltime employees and a number of seasonal employees hired in the Spring. The outside workers are part of the International Union of Operating Engineers #955.

Level UP:Enhanced Visual Identity _County of Wetaskiwin
Team of 2 (Individuals) 60 - 80 hours to completed by April 2021 Aim To enhance student awareness , understanding and experience of creating a visual identity that can be used for external and internal communications (brand and tools for newsletters and brochures etc). To provide practical experience with Graphic Design, Visual Identity functions and implementation of . To facilitate increased student awareness in the municipal government and communications of local government in general, and County of Wetaskiwin (WC) in particular. Project (Graphic Design experience required) Complete a series of progressive segments that ultimately provides CW with 1) an enhanced visual identity, 2) sample of refreshed design templates for newsletters and brochures, 3) draft templates with specific tools. Students also complete an ‘assignment learnings’ reflection document on developing a visual identify for the County and building refreshed Design templates for Newsletter and Brochures. Assessment Professional: Following each segment submission the Community Partner will provide practice-oriented constructive comments that may indicate a) the perceived professional value/quality of the submitted work, b) positive reinforcement, and c) opportunities for professional improvement.
HR Policies
Aim To enhance student awareness and understanding of corporate purposes and applications of human resource policies. To provide practical experience with policy development and audit. To facilitate student awareness of municipal employment contexts in general, and Wetaskiwin County (WC) in particular. Assignment Complete a series of progressive segments that ultimately provides WC with 1) a draft policy audit tool, 2) sample audit scores on existing policies, 3) drafts revisions of policies, and 4) comments regarding expected causes or indicators of policy staling. Students also complete an ‘assignment learnings’ reflection document. Assessment Professional: Following each segment submission the Community Partner will provide practice-oriented constructive comments that may indicate a) the perceived professional value/quality of the submitted work, b) positive reinforcement, and c) opportunities for professional improvement.
