Digital Product Design Capstone Collaboration

Learners in Sheridan's Digital Product Design Capstone Workshop collaborate with industry partners to address real-world challenges through innovative design solutions. Learners are equipped with skills in research, strategy, and hands-on design, enabling them to transform ideas into tested prototypes. By applying an iterative process that combines creativity with problem-solving, students offer fresh perspectives on organizational challenges. They also explore the business aspects of their solutions, ensuring they are desirable, viable, and sustainable. Learners work in small groups of 3-4 students Project starts the first full week of January and runs to mid-April The industry partner works with two student teams The industry partner presents the challenge, offer teams feedback at three key project milestones, and attend final team presentations To ensure the scope and expectations are clear going into this collaboration, industry partners are asked to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) document.

Students analyze a company’s environment and existing business plan and subsequently develop an evolved and relevant comprehensive business and operational plan for the organization, through the application of theoretical and applied learning gained throughout the program. Fresh new ideas and perspectives Enthusiastic team of students working on your project, advised by experienced faculty Low-cost exploration of new business ideas Explore products or services that are outside of your organization's current business plan Connect with Sheridan College academic community Students will provide approximately 160 hours of work, without financial payment dedicated to solving your problem During the fifteen-week semester, partners should be available for four class visits, lasting two hours each, in addition to 20hrs of assignment reading, review and student offline questions. It is estimated that for every partner hour invested, the return is x20 free student hrs.

Calling all employers looking to support and mentor the future generation in the Advertising and Marketing field in Winter 2025. Our Sheridan College, Pilon School of Business 3rd year  Advertising/Marketing Communication Management Program are required to complete a minimum of 250 hours of field experience in an approved Advertising and marketing Communications workplace during the timeframe of Jan - mid April 2025. Please note that we are seeking employer projects that can provide students with daily work tasks over the 12 week course period . Essential Employability Skills: Communication Skills - Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken, visual form that fulfills the purpose and meets the needs of the audience. Personal Skills - Take responsibility for one's own actions, decisions, and consequences. Personal Skills - Manage the use of time and other resources to complete projects. Numeracy - Execute mathematical operations accurately. Interpersonal Skills - Interact with others in groups or teams in ways that contribute to effective working relationships and the achievement of goals. Interpersonal Skills - Show respect for the diverse opinions, values, belief systems, and contributions of others. Information Management - Locate, select, organize and document information using appropriate technology and information systems. Information Management Skills - Analyze, evaluate, and apply relevant information from a variety of sources. Critical Thinking & Problem Solving - Apply a systematic approach to solve problems. Critical Thinking & Problem Solving Skills - Use a variety of thinking skills to anticipate and solve problems. Communication Skills - Respond to written, spoken, or visual messages in a manner that ensures effective communication. All streams under this industry are welcomed and are not exclusive to : Media, Agency, Marketing, Social, Advertising Sales, PR, Creative, Research. Note: Employers are required to sign documents binding the field placement along with a Student Employer Evaluation.

Creative Industries Management (CIM) is a two-term post-graduate certificate program in the Pilon School of Business at Sheridan College. CIM students come from a variety of creative domains, including among others film, television, photography, game design, graphic design, advertising, music, fashion design, theatre, and comedy. They are learning how creative industries are best developed, financed and managed. Students must complete a capstone project - either a project of their own design or working with an external client. We are actively seeking potential clients who may have projects suitable to our diverse range of students.
