As a digital health company that empowers clinicians with the right information at the right time, Symbiotic AI creates solutions that integrate seamlessly with existing clinical information systems. This reduces or eliminates the need for our clinician end-users to enter data manually. However, seamless integration or interfacing with existing clinical information systems is no easy feat and it all starts with research into health informatics.

The main objective of this project is to conduct research in the health informatics domain to help inform the interfaces requirements, product specifications, and strategic integration decisions for our first product, Revaz AI.

By the end of this project, students will complete the following activities:

• Research Interface Specifications: Conduct in-depth research on interface specifications for integration with clinical information systems.
• Analyze Compatibility: Analyze and document compatibility requirements and potential integration issues with existing systems.
• Draft Technical Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation outlining research findings and interface specifications.
• Support Senior Developers: Assist senior developers by providing them with relevant research and technical details needed for development.
• Collaborate with Product Team: Present research findings to the product team to inform and guide product development decisions.

By the end of this project, students will need to produce the following deliverables:

• Report/Research Brief (10-12 pages) that contains the outputs described in the project goal (technical requirements, interface specifications, technical infrastructure costs, and relevant APIs)
• Executive presentation deck that contains key takeaways and findings of the research (10-15 slides)
• Executive presentation (15 minutes)

Successful students will receive the following supports to aide them in completion of this project:

• Information about which vendor products Symbiotic AI is aiming to integrate with to specify the interface research requirements
• Guidance from AI and Data Science experts on critical appraisal and report writing
• Collaboration and mentorship opportunities with Senior Health Interface Developers
• Direction and clarity on how their outputs will inform other decisions taken by product and development teams
