SOLshine.org is the technology transfer beneficiary of Science of Light (SOL).
SOL is a research & development 501(c)(3) non-profit focused on advancing the understanding of the profound biological benefits of light for the betterment of humanity.
SOL's founders designed and marketed therapeutic light systems under license from Dr. John Ott, the father of full-spectrum light technology and were SAD light therapy pioneers (Ott light Systems, 1987-98).
SOL is dedicated to the memory of pioneering photobiologist — Dr. John Ott.

Brand Voice
Our company has been serving customers for decades. We would like to update and revamp our existing brand to attract more customers. While we have a detailed website with strong graphic design assets, we currently lack a consistent brand voice. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Familiarizing themselves with our company’s story, mission and vision statements. Conducting background research on our company’s products and customers. Establishing suitable personality traits for our brand voice and justifying each trait. Describing how personality traits can be displayed through our brand voice. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Recommending methods of ensuring a consistent brand voice. Recommending revisions for our current marketing materials to use a new brand voice.
Website Development
Our company advertises thousands of products online. We hope to update and revamp our existing website to attract more customers. We would like to work with students to develop a new website that is easy to maintain while providing an appealing interface for users. This can be achieved through common site building tools such as Wix, Webflow, and WordPress. This will involve several different steps for the students, including: Researching different site-building tools and their associated advantages / disadvantages. Conducting a needs analysis to determine which platform is most suitable. Building a website, with our assistance in providing the content. Providing training on updating and maintaining the website. Bonus steps in the process would also include: Testing prototypes with customers and refining ideas with feedback.

We want students to help us develop a digital marketing strategy to grow and engage our target market. We’d like to know how we can maximize different channels and what will work best for us. The main questions we’d like students to help us answer are the following: How should we promote our company? What social media channels should we utilize? What budget is appropriate for advertising? What messaging should we use?
