Experiential learning is an integral part of the Durham College Data Analytics program. During the work term, students are employed with work employers that pay at least minimum wage. Students offer a wide set of skills at an affordable cost to a variety of employers.


Students are available for 420 hours from September 2024 to December 2024. The earliest start date is September 3, 2024.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Student deliverables are based on the needs of the employer. Employers can have multiple students work as part of the placement.


Compensation of at least the provincial wage is required for students.

Students can work anywhere in Canada for at least 30 hours per week.

They can work 5 days on site, and can take on hybrid roles or 100% remote jobs.

Requirements

Students can work on a variety of projects that require these skills:


  1. Analyze, organize, and manipulate data to support problem-solving, business decision-making, and opportunity identification.
  2. Develop statistical and predictive models that use operational and marketing data to identify patterns and provide insights to business stakeholders.
  3. Assess and apply business intelligence and Big Data tools appropriate to business decisions, business problems, data movement, and system workloads.
  4. Prepare and communicate complex materials verbally, in writing, and digitally for a variety of audiences, purposes, and levels of detail.
  5. Analyse and interpret data as it relates to various aspects of a business organization’s readiness to change.
  6. Conduct data analysis and research in a respectful and ethical manner that protects privacy and maintains dignity to all involved.
  7. Deliver data oriented projects using data science, business analysis, and project management principles, tools, and techniques to ensure clients’ business needs are achieved.
