Experiential learning is an integral part of the Durham College Artificial Intelligence program. During the work term, students are employed with work employers that pay at least minimum wage. Students offer a wide set of skills at an affordable cost to a variety of employers.


Students are available for 420 hours from September 2024 to December 2024. The earliest start date is September 3, 2024.

Expected outcomes and deliverables

Student deliverables are based on the needs of the employer. Employers can have multiple students work as part of the placement.


Compensation of at least the provincial wage is required for students.

Students can work anywhere in Canada for at least 30 hours per week.

They can work 5 days on site, and can take on hybrid roles or 100% remote jobs.

Project Examples

Students can work on a variety of projects that require these skills:


  1. Analyze, design, and implement artificial intelligence systems through the application of systematic approaches and methodologies to meet organizational needs.
  2. Develop artificial intelligence models and agents that use enterprise data to identify patterns, provide insights, recommend actions, or perform tasks autonomously on behalf of stakeholders.
  3. Prepare and communicate analysis, reports, and recommendations, in a variety of formats, for various audiences, stakeholders and purposes.
  4. Conduct research, data analysis, model development, and solution deployment in an ethical manner that protects privacy, confidentiality, addresses data bias and transparency, and ensures data integrity.
  5. Apply project management principles and lifecycle management strategies to implement artificial intelligence systems on time and budget.
  6. Implement artificial intelligence solutions in compliance with corporate policies, ethical standards, and industry regulations with an understanding of risk, fiscal and legal implications.


Companies must answer the following questions to submit a match request to this experience:
