This work placement offers an introduction to real-life translation situations in the setting of a Language Service Provider (LSP). It constitutes a structured period of work-based learning which has been shown to help postgraduate students develop a wide range of generic work-related skills such as problem-solving, analytical and critical thinking, team working, communication skills, personal development skills, planning, and organizational skills, etc. In addition, students are given the opportunity to develop their professional competence as translators (and by extension as proof-readers, revisers, editors, project managers, etc.) in a working environment, benefiting from mentoring and support from experienced professionals. Students are available for up to 100 hours starting early January 2024 – May 2025. Unpaid for credit experience. Honorariums and Stipends welcome. Learners in this program/experience will analyse the business offer and contrast it with that of the competition, with a view to developing your value proposition. Any current issue presented by the selected business will be evaluated in the light of the broader picture of the business model. The value proposition can be based on existing market or consider potential other target markets. Students can review current business issues in the light of the bigger picture, seek views of current or potential customers and provide advice on the way forward.
Strategic Public Relations Analysis, Communication, and Planning
Learners will develop an understanding of the role and purpose of Public Relations (PR) together with an appreciation of the societal context and global business environment within which PR operates. From a practical perspective, it will also aim to develop students’ writing skills with a specific focus on public relations copywriting. Additionally, learners will examine how this has resulted in an explosion of user and influencer-generated content that is significantly influencing how PR is practiced in the 21st century. Project/event management skills will also be considered within this PR context.

Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Management
The business world is currently undergoing profound technological change. Digitalisation has reached new heights and new technologies are helping tackle ever more tasks that are complex. This trend is driven in particular by the availability of large quantities of data – big data (BD) – and by the improved opportunities for using this data through artificial intelligence (AI). The relevance of BDAI is growing as technology, companies, and consumers interact. First, current technological progress facilitates the extensive and practical use of BDAI. Second, companies are increasingly relying on data and the value they extract from it to optimise their business models and processes. Third, consumer behaviour is increasingly shaped by digital applications, which in turn boosts the generation and availability of data. As such this module focuses on the relevance and management of BDAI in business context. This module also focuses on how to lead successful BDAI initiatives by prioritizing the right opportunities, building a diverse team, shaping the strategies and strategic experiments and continuously managing business solutions to benefit the organizations as a whole.

Students, individually or in groups, can be involved in a wide range of tasks and/or projects depending on the skills and competencies they have developed in their undergraduate studies so far. Health and Social Care in Applied and Clinical Workplaces

Second year students at London Metropolitan University will work with your organization to complete projects related to their studies in Health and Social Care, and can range from clinical research to applied health and social care in a variety of workplaces. Students in this program are looking for projects that should increase their understanding of health and social care in a work context. Because Health and Social Care graduates go into many different areas, it is very flexible.The career development learning and work based learning programs involve pairing an undergraduate placement student with a host organisation, under the supervision of a mentor from that organisation. Students will select their final choices for which company to work with, and will submit an application. You will be able to accept or decline the student's application to work with you. Please note that matching does not guarantee that a student will work with your company, and final selections will be made starting in January of 2024. Students will complete a project for your organization over the placement period. We suggest providing a starting project, but as the placement goes on there may be other duties or projects the student is asked to complete as well. Providing a central project creates structure for the placement, and gives the student (and company) a tangible goal. Students are required to complete 40 hours of placement between January and April (the actual schedule will be determined between you and the student). Students have a thorough understanding of the core areas in Health and Social care (health promotion and education, community health, policy and advocacy, mental healthcare, elderly care, child welfare, disability support, healthcare administration and management and effective delivery of health and social care services).

Final year students at London Metropolitan University will work with your organization to complete projects related to their studies in Psychology, and can range from clinical research to applied psychology in a variety of workplaces. Students in this program are looking for projects that should increase their understanding of psychology in a work context. As part of the foundation degree course, the placement is 96 hours over the course of a semester. These hours can be completed anywhere in a 3 to 12 week time frame, depending on what is mutually beneficial to the employer, student and the project.

This module has been developed to allow students to work intensively with a London community project/organisation in order to identify (in partnership with them) a challenge they are faced with and work towards positively addressing this challenge This innovative module is an exciting opportunity to work at a grass-roots level to effect change and to learn about the key issues currently affecting London and other large cities. Student is to find ideally food/nutrition-based work experience/project/placement that is in flexible part-time remote or hybrid mode and students are required to complete 40 -70 hours by mid April 2024 latest. Student will propose prospective work experience to their module leader who will approve it as suitable based on compliance with the Empowering London Work Based Learning module objectives in the areas of social wealth; the environment; discrimination; health; poverty and deprivation and crime. The module is designed to enhance students’ wider personal and professional development. It will facilitate application and progression of knowledge gained in their studies and wider life experience. The module includes values-driven, professional training and work experience to assist in preparing student for their future careers. Through work based practice, student will positively contribute to a key part of the London Metropolitan University’s Strategic agenda, addressing current social and economic issues facing London communities. This unique module allows student to be challenged by contributing to current, real world projects, working with the University and students from other professional disciplines to make a positive difference to society. This could include working with communities and organisations towards programmes aiming to address collective identity and civic agency in neighbourhoods. Student will work individually or in teams, in partnership with community institutions to support the activities of one of London Met’s strategic priorities - the Empowering London initiative.
